Planning summer takes time and resources, so it is always the best option to start as soon as possible. Two years after the pandemic started, we can finally travel carefree and enjoy open borders without restrictions. So don't wait! We have prepared a few suggestions and made a choice about the top 5 summer destinations in Europe.

1. Mykonos, Greece

Greece is very hard to resist, but Mykonos is even harder to say no to! It is one of those destinations that you will love at first sight and you will always want to go back to. Usually, you would always think of parties and cocktails when we mention this attractive destination, but there is so much more than that! Here are just a few of the amazing attractions you can discover during your trip:

• The windmills are an iconic feature of Mykonos and were once essential to the local industry.
• Paraportiani Church – one of the most famous and most-photographed Greek churches, particularly due to its stunning architecture.

2. Barcelona, Spain

Summer in the city might not seem very interesting, but summer in Barcelona is just something you have to try out eventually! It is a perfect combination of everything: city, beach, lifestyle, nature, shopping, parties, and road trips. Here are some important spots that you must not miss during your stay:

• La Sagrada Familia – discover the impressive works of Antoni Gaudi by visiting his minor basilica. La Sagrada Familia blends several architectural styles, such as Art Nouveau, Catalan Modernism and Late-Gothic.
• Park Güell – another one of Gaudi’s masterpieces, this project was inaugurated in 1926 and is currently one of the largest green spaces in Barcelona.
• Las Ramblas – one of the central pedestrian streets of Barcelona stretches for 1.2 kilometres and is basically the bridge between Placa de Catalunya and the Christopher Columbus Monument at Port Vell.
• Casa Battlo – another one of Gaudi’s creations, this apartment building is right in the center of Barcelona and was redesigned in 1904.
• Surf House Barcelona – a very cool place to eat at the beach, close to W Hotel. If you want to try the best nachos with guacamole, this is your place. Just make sure to book in advance as the queues can get pretty long during the summer months.

3. Sardinia, Italy

You cannot make travel plans in Europe and not put Italy on the map. Italy is always a good idea, and no matter the time of the year you can always visit cities, small towns, suburbs, lakes, or coasts. But to make a choice for this list, we would definitely pick Sardinia as our summer choice.

This beautiful island packs a whole lot of things to do and, as with the whole of Italy, is a foodie’s heaven (think pasta, pizza, coffee, gelato, and more).

What you shouldn't miss are the Grotto di Nettuno, Tiscali Mountain, and the stunning Maddalena archiIf you are looking for beautiful beaches, Sardinia has plenty of those but we can highly recommend spending a day at Spiaggia La Pelosa (near Stintino) and Spiaggia di Is Arutas (near Oristano).

4. Ibiza, Spain

If you want to have a party in summer, then Ibiza is your place to go. This beautiful island has some of the some of the best nightclubs in the world. Nevertheless, Ibiza isn’t just a party destination, you can also visit to just enjoy the stunning beaches, explore the landscape, or visit the historic Ibiza Town.

5. Provence, France

If you want to try something different, you should go for the summer in the south of France. The road trip in Provence is spectacular for everyone who hasn't seen this area before. You can experience local markets, entertaining cultural events in the village streets and also visit the famous lavender fields.

Early-mid summer is the ideal time to witness the spectacle before the fragrant crop starts getting harvested in mid-July.
